The volley is built forward rather than backward: where the body goes decides the shot, and the racket does less than a new player expects.
Principle
The body moves to the ball; the racket stays simple.
It's the first volley because it's the one where the idea is easiest to feel — that the shot is made by moving to the ball rather than by swinging at it.
