History
I fell in love with tennis at fifteen.
Within a few years I was an all-area high school player, and then a Bearcat at Northwest Missouri State, where I played alongside incredible players from around the world. My freshman year we qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships. After college I spent more than a decade teaching at clubs and universities across Missouri before making my way to Dallas.
But what has kept me interested in tennis isn't just competition — it's understanding why the game works.
Today I teach at Samuell Grand Tennis Center, working with juniors, adults, beginners, and competitive players who want to build a game they can rely on.
In Their Words
Coach Derek began teaching me when I was a teenager, and he played a huge role in helping me fall in love with tennis. His instruction gave me the foundation to improve quickly, and within two years I earned a spot on the Westminster College men's tennis team, where I played No. 1 singles for two seasons. Today, I'm a teaching professional myself, and I still draw on many of the lessons Derek taught me years ago.
